OK, well, hypothetically this could happen. Days are long, science is hard, mistakes get made. But you know, I might need some sort of compensation to make up for the stress of losing my key card.

Excuse me, but how is it criminal to expect a friend to treat me to coffee after dealing with the stress and anguish of losing my keycard?

A friend could get you coffee to cheer you up, but that's not compensation. That's just not being an asshole.

I would require cheering up via coffee in the aftermath of losing my keycard.

Is coffee all it would take to cheer you up? You could probably get a whole lunch out of something like that.

In this hypothetical situation I would be trying not to demand too much from my friend in my time of stress, but if he insists, I will totally accept a whole lunch. With coffee.

Yeah, that's possible. I'm definitely not a morning person.

In that case, your friend might get you lunch... say... Thursday?
