Hypothetically speaking, let's say someone needed ro get into a secure lab you have access to. Any chance you might happen to forget your key card? Say on top of the towel dispenser in the bathroom of that coffee shop down the street?

Are you asking me to do crime?

Nah. I'm asking in this incredibly hypothetical situation if there's any chase you might have misplaced something. Totally different.

It's a really elaborately thought out hypothetical situation.

Less elaborate than the hypothetical situation where you didn't misplace your key card.

OK, well, hypothetically this could happen. Days are long, science is hard, mistakes get made. But you know, I might need some sort of compensation to make up for the stress of losing my key card.

See, now you're talking about doing a crime.

Excuse me, but how is it criminal to expect a friend to treat me to coffee after dealing with the stress and anguish of losing my keycard?

A friend could get you coffee to cheer you up, but that's not compensation. That's just not being an asshole.

Ok, bad choice of words, I guess.

I would require cheering up via coffee in the aftermath of losing my keycard.

Is coffee all it would take to cheer you up? You could probably get a whole lunch out of something like that.

In this hypothetical situation I would be trying not to demand too much from my friend in my time of stress, but if he insists, I will totally accept a whole lunch. With coffee.
